This is one of my favorite work. Tilda was colored with colored pencils. I love the papers used which was from the Papercraft Inspirations Magazine.

This Tilda's dress was done in purple, fuchsia pink and orange...a rare possibility but I think its workable!

The daisy flower is from Sizzix dies...I love the sewing because it gives texture to a very neat & clean card....

After an awful long long long silence.....finally picked up where I left off...erh...months or a year ago...LOL! I already have on my hands a collection of cards with Just Magnolia's Tilda! I thought I will never get down into coloring little girls but much to my surprise (after an initial shock!) I found myself addicted to it....much thanks to my two very special girlfriends who are crazy collectors of stamps...you know who you are...>.<...!!! Enjoy...girls!!!

A precious quotation from the Scripture from 1Cor. 13 on LOVE was placed at the back of the card because there was not enough space left inside the card to put in messages.

Behind the laced pieces are open pockets for slipping in "ang-pows" or gifts in the form of cash.

Here's another wedding card to a special friend's daughter who loves purple. Purple color symbolizes sacredness and nobleness in the Old Testament time. It's a very elegant color & yet still preserves a lot of feminine qualities in it. The purple piece of cardstock was embossed & the pictures were stamped with Hero stamps & then colored with color pencils. The piece of lace & glitter stones softened the whole look of the card.

I love tea...any kind of tea...English or Chinese...as long as it is called tea...! It is with fond memories of my good old youthful days when I was like the beautiful rose next to the tea cup - blooming at its peak- and "bees" were zooming by armed with invitations for a cup or tea! How glorious then...!!!
There was this particular guy (typical foochow fellow...) who called me and asked me out ...(Please read this in foochow if you can!)..."chu li seh soak puei tah lah heh?" (come out drink one cup tea, lah heh?) ha ha ha...

My Pet Dogs!

History: A friend had a few new-born "shi-shu" pups and he wanted to give us one. My son, Daniel was then terrified with dogs, so we decided to bring one home just to help him overcome some fear. It worked! Now, he is no longer afraid of dogs & may even play a few chase if in his mood!
Lucy is very smart & almost human. We think she thinks she is a human, not a dog because she wants to eat the food that we lay on the table and is no way near liking any kind of dog food! She can even do quite a tricks for you if only you bring her some of her favorite food!

We had such an adventure with this puppy, a pure breed spitz. One night on our way home, we almost ran over this a month old puppy! it was bitten by a huge dog on its back & had a huge missing piece with gruesome wounds with worms! We took it home, cared, nutured & loved it back to health! It was such a playful & destructive little thing it destroyed so many of my plants & Lucy was terrified of it that she no longer dared to venture into the backyard. Eventually we found out its original owner but it was too late, I gave it away to a friend at work! Hope it is happy in its new home! Though the time with Bessy was rather short, we are glad we saved a dog's life!

I always find making a nice card for men a challenge! However when i came across this folded shirt pattern, I fell in love with it and ended up making 4 cards for this special day for dads! Happy fathers' day to all the wonderful dads of the world!

My son, Tim's Baby Album!

That's me with Tim in my arms. He was such a good & beautiful baby! Never gave me sleepless nights! I had so much fun digging into all the embellishments I bought & collected throughout the years. Without hesitation, I put in as much as I possibly can!

These two pages are placed next to each other. Blue was chosen as the main color & the accent colors were chosen as closely to each other. Careful consideration of not choosing too great constrasting colors helps to tie the two pages more harmoniously together.

These were the very first photos taken of Tim after birth, "sunbathing" because of mild jaundice. He was completely naked, so I tried to "preserve" his decency by laying strips of ribbons across his middle!

These photographs were taken at the Blue Mountains. The layout & colors chosen were inspired by the colorstrips behind the one of the photos. Many asked whether the aborogine man is real! HE IS...! But definitely not the naked lady Thomas is leaning on & smiling SO gleefully...!

This doll is from Sizzix dies, the balloons & the doll's blouse from Jeart dies. I punched out a scallop circle shape, cut away a few segments & scored evenly some lines from the centre out & then fold it into a fluted skirt.

Thanks for your comment Laura! I decided to make another one because I like the Wedding one so much too! I did this one for an Anniversary in bold colors. I love the way the black & white checks brings out the colors of the flowers. I will reserve this one for someone special!

Dad & Mum

Mum & Dad were so pretty & handsome ( still are!) & I highlighted some of their characters & personalities by writing them on the sunflowers. The pig reminded me of the story how Mum had to feed dozens of swines right after working in school as a teacher. She is never idle!

The 2 cats reminded me of the 2 we had as children which we loved so much & I did the colors as closely to resemble them as possible!

This is the ONLY wedding photo (original) my dad & mum took on their wedding day! It shows my mum walking down the little lane toward my dad's wooden house in Sg Bidut, a small village just opposite the Rejang River.

I scanned the photo & zoomed in to get a closer view. I then chalked the photo for that aging look. They were a great couple, & still a great couple today! I love them very much!

Year end & beginning of a new year spells ..."WEDDINGS"! November & December season smells so "romantic", and so is January & February, just before & after Chinese New Year for that "auspicious" day!

We are bound to receive a series of wedding invitations & the greatest task is getting that "special card for that special couple"! No better fun & so meaningful is making that special card yourself! This one was done for a friend who asked me to do it for her friend's wedding & found out I am also invited to the same wedding!

This albums holds 8"x8" pages. Thomas prefers this size because they are less bulky & I thoroughly enjoyed scrapping them because Tim was so much fun in these photos & Tom was creative & fast in catching those precious moments!

I love this photo of the Tim & Tom in the dark shadow with the Harbour Bridge behind them. A great photo to introduce Australia on the very first page in this album.
This is the last page in the album which sums up with a Bible verse from Jeremiah 17:7-8: "Blessed is a man who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. He will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves is always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit."
A good reminder to the man I married 20 years ago & still deeply in love today!

This 2 pages are my favorite! I cut out windows to show all the families Tim & Tom met during their trip, some new & some old....
This is one of their favorite day at Central Coast, so I named it "STAR DAY"!

Tim inherit those taste buds from me...(I think that's the only thing he inherited from me!) & my sister Linda had a great time with him in accompanying her in tasting all the variety of food in the cosmopolitan Sydney cultures!

Funny Incidences

Eversince Daniel was diagnosed as having autism, we noted many funny & hilarious incidences he created over the years. Some were like nightmares to us then, but looking back, they can be hilarious too!

The Sweets

Daniel was able to recognise all the rainbow colours since aged 3 or 4. One day while at a hawker stall, Dad picked up his "must have" 4 colored sweets, red, orange, yellow & green. But to Dad's total confusion, Daniel went into a huge tantrum & insisted Dad put back the sweets into the caddy tub! Dad was sure he got the right colours, so what's up??????? Daniel threw in the sweets back into the tub & then pulled out the sweets in this order, RED, ORANGE, YELLOW AND THEN GREEN! Dad, you got the sweets out in the wrong order!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cards with pockets are useful in our Chinese culture especially for putting "ang-pows" for different celebrations -weddings, birthdays or just a gift to a friend! This one holds a tag which doubled as bookmark!

My Special Son, Daniel

No...Daniel doesn't smoke...just pretending to be Sherlock Holmes...not kidding!

We found the wooden handcrafted pipe in Kuala Trengganu, in an antique shop in China Town & immediately thought of him. He loves it!

My younger son, Daniel, was diagnosed with autism at the age of 2+ & this has changed my whole life eversince! Autism is becoming more & more "common" & the number of children diagnosed with autism is on the rise every year! Many misunderstood people with autism as "their freewill to choose seclusion from the world due to psychological issues" but the truth is "their INABILITY to understand the world & therefore, withdrawal into their own more predictable worlds." Autism affects development in children in 3 main areas:
1. Communication: absence/deficit in skills for communication, both in usage of language, gestures or body/facial expressions
2. Social Interaction:deficit/absence in understanding both written/unwritten social rules & cues
3. Rigidity in Thoughts: like to perform or do things repetitively & does not like new ideas/things/routines etc, or limited in imagination
Besides these 3 developmental deficits, these children are often also affected by other developmental delays such as language difficulty, learning difficulty, & also by sensory dysfunction i.e. malfunction any/many of our 7 senses - taste, smell, touch, sight, hearing, sense of balance & sense of space.

Daniel is now16 years old & goes to Sibu Autistic Centre at Agape Centre, Sibu, attending a young adult programme. Daniel is the reason why I have started the centre for children with autism & related disorders!

Daniel is very lovable i.e. when he doesn't scream or bang with his fists when angry or in pain! He is like anyone else! He wants/loves attention, gentleness, & not being left out by the rest of the family! He gets extremely frustrated when not understood & he LOVES oranges!

Making use of craft wires can created interesting contrast & texture to a card. Stickers are also so easy & useful especially when you are rushing for last minute party invitations... Here, I used a recycled/handmade paper which by itself its already so beautiful! I only need to jazz it up with some border stickers, cut up 2 hearts & wind twisted craft wires around them & attached butterflies to the ends of the wires. You can also string beads or buttons into the wires for more blings! Wah...lah...done! So easy...! Saves you both time & money, & your friends will definitely appreciate it because you can personalize them!

This card was inspired by a tag I saw in a magazine & it reminds me of the all the pizza lovers. This card is great for many functions - invitation, thank you, birthday ! I used Sizzix dies (shaker box) to cut out the pizza box, some beads & bits of foam pieces for the pizza & topped it with some mulberry paper for cheese....!

A Bouquet for You!

A bouquet of flowers is so versatile! It can bring tremendous pleasure, comfort, love or joy at any time, season & occasion without going out of fashion!
I embossed the background & framed it with border stickers. I found a piece of gift paper with many teddy bears of different sizes & cut out one to fit this card. The quilled flowers were arranged & attached onto a piece of tissue paper.

Another version of A Bouquet for You. I used a bigger teddy bear for this one holding a bouquet behind him & a present on the other.

This birthday card was for a very special friend & neighbour who has been our faithful babysitter for my special son for many many years! I love quilling & the flowers on this card are all hand-quilled, the felt heart embellished with sparkling beads & the bowl cut out from Sizzix dies.

This card always brings a "WOW" from whoever receives it....& the pleasure is all mine! I used Sizzix dies to cut out the dress & accessories. You can always change or choose the colour & pattern of the papers to suit your own style or whoever you are making it for!
I cut out a piece of doily for the lace, attached ribbon roses for the dress & matching handbag, stickers for the frames & corners, & my signature finish is tying some matching beads to the edge of the card. Enjoy!
